Privacy Policy for ZTL Italia

1. Introduction

ZTL Italia (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is developed by 2Alfa d.o.o. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS.

2. Information We Collect

Location Data

ZTL Italia uses your precise location in the background to:

• Detect when you are approaching or entering a Zona a Traffico Limitato (ZTL) restricted traffic zone in Italy
• Alert you before you enter a restricted zone
• Show parking options outside ZTL zones near your location

We operate no servers and receive no location data ourselves. Zone detection runs entirely on your device: the app compares your position against a zone database stored in the app itself.

Two third-party services do receive location data, and neither is operated by us:

• Mapbox, which renders the map. Its SDK reports precise and approximate location together with a generated user identifier, for app functionality and its own analytics. Mapbox states this data is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking. See the Mapbox Privacy Policy.
• Overpass API (OpenStreetMap), which we query for parking locations. The query contains the coordinates of the search area. No account, device identifier or other personal data is attached.

In-App Purchases

When you buy ZTL Italia Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store, depending on where you installed the app. We never see or store payment information.

App Settings

Your preferences (language, alert radius, saved cities) are stored locally on your device and never leave it.

3. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data. We have no servers and no database of users.

The app includes the following third-party services:

• Mapbox — map rendering; receives location data and a generated identifier as described above (Privacy Policy)
• Google Play Billing (Android) — in-app purchases (Privacy Policy)
• Apple App Store (iOS) — in-app purchases (Privacy Policy)
• OpenStreetMap / Overpass API — parking search; receives search-area coordinates only

5. Data Retention

We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. Location processing happens in real time on your device and is discarded immediately after use. Retention of the data sent to Mapbox and Overpass is governed by their own policies.

6. Children’s Privacy

ZTL Italia is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Permissions and Device Capabilities

The app requests the following:

Both platforms

• Location, including while in the background — required to detect ZTL zones while driving, including when the app is closed and the screen is off
• Notifications — required to deliver ZTL zone alerts
• Audio playback in the background — required to play the alert tone through your car speakers. On iOS, notification sounds are silenced by Driving Focus and while CarPlay is connected, so the app plays the tone itself, the same way navigation apps play turn instructions. On Android, the equivalent is needed because Android Auto mutes notification sounds while projecting. The app plays only its own short alert tones; it never records audio.

Android only

• Foreground service — runs location monitoring while driving
• Ignore battery optimisations — optional; improves alert reliability on some devices

8. Security

All zone detection happens locally on your device. We hold no user data on any server, so there is no server-side data of yours to breach.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
